Plate is a SaaS web building platform. We started out as an easy to use frontend-based cms, but we've grown towards a platform that offers a solid base for web building with data and content modelling capabilities, portal functionality, progressive web apps, etc, while still offering an easy frontend cms for end users. We are now working on Plate with a team of 12 people, and I am in the role of CTO.

We use Libpixel for compressing uploaded images, and we built a wrapper in Plate, so users can edit and crop their images on the fly directly inside their HTML templates.
Before Libpixel we used simple storage with S3. It was up to the client to upload correctly compressed and sized images.
Libpixel has a significantly better price point and offers a much more solid API documentation in comparison with the competition. On top of that I received amazingly fast replies on my questions when I was orientating on image processing. I still do.
